Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – we are always happy to talk through your project and answer anything you have on your mind.

Residential Interior Design

How long does a full residential interior design project take?
Every project is different – a single-room commission may be completed in 8–12 weeks, while a full home renovation or new build can take 12–24 months from first consultation to installation. During our initial meeting we will give you a realistic timeline based on your specific brief, the scale of work involved, and current lead times from our supplier partners.
Do you work outside of Kent?
Yes. While our studio is based in Broadstairs, Kent, we work with residential clients across the UK and internationally. A number of our most celebrated projects have been delivered in London, elsewhere in the South East, and overseas. Distance is never a barrier to great design.
Can I incorporate my own furniture and pieces into the design?
Absolutely. Many clients have existing pieces they love — whether inherited, collected, or simply meaningful. We are experienced at designing around existing furniture and artwork, and at finding ways to integrate them beautifully into a new scheme.
How do you charge for residential interior design?
Our fee structure varies depending on the scope and scale of the project. We typically charge an initial consultation fee, followed by a design fee agreed at the outset of the project. Furniture and procurement is charged on a supply basis. We will always be transparent about costs before any work begins — please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
Do I need to have a clear idea of what I want before getting in touch?
Not at all. Many of our clients come to us at the very beginning of their thinking, with little more than a feeling about how they want their home to feel. That is exactly the right moment to start a conversation. Our role is to help you discover and articulate your vision — not to require you to arrive with one fully formed.

Hospitality Interior Design

Can you work within tight commercial budgets and build programmes?
Yes. We are experienced at designing to commercial project constraints – balancing specification quality with budget realities, and working to the timelines that hospitality projects demand. We are transparent about costs from the outset and will always tell you clearly what is achievable within your parameters.
Do you work with new hospitality openings and with existing properties looking to refurbish?
Both. We work with new builds and new openings from the earliest planning stages, and with established properties undergoing partial or full refurbishment. Each context requires a different approach, and we are experienced with both.
Can you design individual areas within a property rather than the whole building?
Yes. We are equally comfortable taking on a complete property design commission and working on a specific area – a new bar, a restaurant redesign, or a bedroom refresh programme – within an existing property.
How do you approach brand identity within the design?
We work closely with owners and marketing teams to ensure that the interior design is a genuine expression of the property’s brand – not a generic hospitality aesthetic applied over it. Where brand guidelines exist, we work within them and extend them into the physical environment with intelligence and originality.

Commercial Interior Design

What types of commercial spaces do you design?
We work across a broad range of commercial environments – including professional services offices, client reception and meeting spaces, retail showrooms, brand environments, and mixed-use developments. If you are unsure whether your project falls within our scope, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss it.
Can you work around a live business without significant disruption?
Yes. We are experienced at phasing commercial projects to minimise operational disruption, and at working with your facilities and management teams to plan the work around business-critical periods.
Do you work with landlords and developers on commercial fit-outs?
Yes. We work with both occupiers designing their own space and with developers and landlords creating commercial spaces for lease or sale – including show suites, marketing suites, and fitted-out floor plates.
How do commercial design fees work?
Commercial projects are typically quoted on a project fee basis, agreed at the outset based on the scope and scale of the brief. We will always be clear about fees before any work begins. Contact us to discuss your project and we will be happy to provide a proposal.

Furniture & Procurement

Can I access your supplier portfolio without commissioning a full design project?
Yes. We offer a standalone procurement consultancy service for clients who have their own designer or scheme and need expert sourcing and procurement support. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will explain how we can help.
Do you have minimum order values for procurement projects?
We focus on the luxury end of the market and work on projects where quality of product and service is the priority. We are happy to discuss your project and advise on whether it falls within our scope during an initial conversation.
How do you handle items that arrive damaged or incorrect?
All items are inspected on delivery. Where issues arise, we manage the claim and resolution directly with the supplier on your behalf — this is one of the most important benefits of working through an experienced procurement team rather than sourcing independently.
Do you procure internationally?
Yes. A significant portion of our supplier portfolio is based in Europe and beyond — Italy, France, Belgium, Scandinavia, and further afield. We manage international freight, import documentation, and delivery coordination as part of our service.
Can you source items to match or complement existing pieces in my home?
Yes. We are experienced at working alongside existing furniture and collections — sourcing pieces that complement, contrast with, or extend an existing interior in a considered and intentional way.

Installation & Styling

How long does installation typically take?
This depends entirely on the scale of the project. A single room can often be installed and styled in a single day. A whole home may require two to five days, depending on the number of rooms, volume of furniture, and complexity of the styling. We will give you a clear timeline estimate as part of your project plan.
Do I need to be present during installation?
It is not essential for you to be on-site throughout — many clients prefer to arrive for the final reveal. We do ask that you or a representative are available for the post-installation walkthrough at the end of the day, so that any final adjustments can be made before we leave.
What happens if something arrives damaged on installation day?
We inspect all items before and during installation. Where damage is found, we document it immediately, manage the supplier claim, and arrange replacement as quickly as possible. For full Atlantic Interiors projects, our procurement team will already have managed quality inspection at the point of delivery, minimising the likelihood of issues on the day.
Can you style a space that has already been furnished?
Yes. We offer a standalone styling and dressing service for clients who have a furnished space that feels unfinished or that is not quite achieving the look they had in mind. This typically involves a site visit, a styling consultation, and a half-day or full-day styling session to complete the space.
