At Atlantic Interiors, we begin every residential project by listening carefully: to how you live, how you move through your home, what you love, and what you want to feel the moment you walk through the door. Our residential interior design service is fully bespoke and entirely comprehensive. We work with clients from the very beginning of a project — whether that is an empty plot, a newly purchased property, or a much-loved home in need of transformation – and we remain with you through every stage, from the first concept sketch to the moment you take in your completed space.

Over more than 25 years, Creative Director Steve Fairfax has worked on private homes across the UK and internationally – from coastal retreats on the Kent shoreline to city apartments in London, from country estates to contemporary new builds. Each project is approached with the same rigour, the same creative ambition, and the same absolute commitment to quality.

We believe that the most beautiful homes are not designed around trends. They are designed around the people who live in them – and built to remain as relevant, as personal, and as beautiful in twenty years as they are on the day of completion.

Bespoke Furniture Design & International Procurement

Access to an exceptional portfolio of international luxury furniture brands and specialist craftsmen, many of which are available exclusively through the trade. We handle the complete procurement process on your behalf.

Lighting Design

Lighting shapes how a space feels at every time of day. We design layered, considered lighting schemes that work with the architecture and the materials to bring each room to life.

Textiles, Soft Furnishings & Window Treatments

From bespoke curtains and blinds to carefully selected upholstery fabrics, cushions, and rugs – every textile choice is made with the overall scheme in mind.

Artwork & Accessories

The finishing layer of any great interior. We source and curate artwork, mirrors, ceramics, and decorative objects that bring personality, warmth, and the final sense of completeness to a space.

Construction & Contractor Oversight

Where building or renovation work is required, we work closely with architects, contractors, and specialist tradespeople to ensure that every detail of the construction is executed to our specification.

Full Project Management

From supplier management and lead time tracking to site visits and quality control, we manage every element of your project from first meeting to final reveal.

How We Work

Every residential project follows a clear, considered journey – from the first conversation through to the moment you step into your completed home. Here is how we work with you at each stage.

Step 1 – Listen

We begin with a detailed consultation – in your home where possible – to understand your lifestyle, your taste, and your vision. There are no assumptions and no fixed templates. Every conversation is the start of something entirely individual.

Step 2 – Explore

We develop a concept presentation unique to your project – mood boards, spatial plans, material palettes, and furniture directions – giving you a clear and inspiring picture of how your home could look and feel. We refine this together until every element feels right.

Step 3 – Create

With the concept approved, we move into the production phase – placing orders, managing suppliers, overseeing any construction or trades work, and tracking every element through to readiness. You are kept informed at every stage, without being burdened by the detail.

Step 4 – Deliver

Our installation team manages the complete delivery and placement of every piece, followed by our styling team who complete the space with soft furnishings, accessories, and artwork. The result is a home that is entirely finished – and entirely yours.

How long does a full residential interior design project take?

Every project is different – a single-room commission may be completed in 8–12 weeks, while a full home renovation or new build can take 12–24 months from first consultation to installation. During our initial meeting we will give you a realistic timeline based on your specific brief, the scale of work involved, and current lead times from our supplier partners.

Do you work outside of Kent?

Yes. While our studio is based in Broadstairs, Kent, we work with residential clients across the UK and internationally. A number of our most celebrated projects have been delivered in London, elsewhere in the South East, and overseas. Distance is never a barrier to great design.

Can I incorporate my own furniture and pieces into the design?

Absolutely. Many clients have existing pieces they love — whether inherited, collected, or simply meaningful. We are experienced at designing around existing furniture and artwork, and at finding ways to integrate them beautifully into a new scheme.

How do you charge for residential interior design?

Our fee structure varies depending on the scope and scale of the project. We typically charge an initial consultation fee, followed by a design fee agreed at the outset of the project. Furniture and procurement is charged on a supply basis. We will always be transparent about costs before any work begins — please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

Do I need to have a clear idea of what I want before getting in touch?

Not at all. Many of our clients come to us at the very beginning of their thinking, with little more than a feeling about how they want their home to feel. That is exactly the right moment to start a conversation. Our role is to help you discover and articulate your vision — not to require you to arrive with one fully formed.
